Is Thrill Waterpark on CocoCay Worth It? Pricing at Per Person Seen

cruise with water park

All of Disney's cruise ships feature an aquatic ride of some sort. Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream have the water park fan-favorite AquaDuck -- an elevated two-person-raft "water coaster," made up of a 765-foot-long tube that veers out over the side of the ship. Both ships also have Mickey’s Slide and Mr. Ray’s Slide in the Nemo’s Reef area for the 8 and under cruisers.

UNWIND IN BETWEEN ADVENTURES

We sat in on an information session about Icon of the Seas when Chief Product Innovation Officer Jay Schneider was asked about why the waterpark would have six slides. Base CampInstead of having to leave the fun to get a bite to eat, Thrill Island includes Base Camp — a family-friendly spot where you can grab burgers, sandwiches, and sides. No word on the exact menu as of the time of this article, but Royal Caribbean has said it is “meant to be both complementary and for-pay” food and beverage spot. Sport CourtA sport court is a must on a cruise ship, and Icon of the Seas’ court takes a prominent spot, raised up from the deck below and providing wide open ocean views. But without a doubt the most eye-catching and discussed feature of Royal Caribbean’s newest ship is the massive waterpark that dominates the back of the ship.

Cabanas May Be a Good Deal for Groups (Includes Admission)

From mouthwatering Caribbean-style bites at Chill Grill to irresistible chicken sandwiches at Snack Shack, there’s plenty of complimentary delicious options everywhere you turn. Plus, discover even more ways to indulge at Coco Beach Club with elevated dishes like Bahamian lobster rolls, and grilled Caribbean grouper. Jam to DJ spun beats with a signature Coco Loco from the bustling swim-up bar at Oasis Lagoon. Level up your lounge game along the infinity pool at Coco Beach Club®. Or let loose at the ultimate beach party just for adults on the new Hideaway Beach℠.

Top Free Activities and Free Things To Do at Perfect Day at CocoCay

Grab a two-person raft and hit The Twister, a winding tube slide. Go for a zero-gravity rush with your fearless foursome on The Slingshot. Stoke your competitive spirit on the four-lane Splash Speedway racers. And take bravery for a twirl on the four-person raft slide, Tailspin.

Shoes Aren’t Allowed on Slides (There Are Cubbies Available)

A true sight to behold, The Blaster is so long because it's what's known as a water coaster. It features water jets that propel you up, down and forward — extending the ride — as you careen around the ship's basketball court and surfing simulator in an inner tube. At times, you go flying over the side of the ship, over open water (not that you have much time to take in the view). Big lines that have steered clear of the water-park-at-sea trend include Princess Cruises, Holland America and Celebrity Cruises. Geared more toward couples than families and typically drawing an older demographic, all three of these lines have stuck to a more subdued feel for the outdoor areas of their ships. The top decks of vessels operated by Princess, Holland America and Celebrity still mostly revolve around traditional swimming areas with pools, hot tubs and lounge chairs.

Amazing Family Friendly Summer Cruise Vacations

Adventure, Freedom, Harmony, Independence, Liberty, Oasis, Ovation, Spectrum, Symphony, and Wonder of the Seas cater to kiddos with a few smaller waterslides and more substantial water features at Splashaway Bay. The newest of the primo slides Disney offers is onboard Disney Wish, where Aqua Mouse starts with a story on screens inside the beginning of the 760-foot two-seater tube ride. Wish also has Slide-a-saurus Rex and toddler Toy Story slides.

How Much Does Thrill Waterpark Cost?

If you want thrills in your private island day on Royal Caribbean, check out Thrill Waterpark at Perfect Day at CocoCay. Some cabanas come with extra perks, like the cabanas at Thrill Waterpark®, which include complimentary entry to all of the slides and activities inside for up to six guests. Choose your own ultimate beach day on a cruise to Perfect Day at CocoCay. Luxe the day away with an Overwater Cabana at Coco Beach Club®. Refuel at the swim-up bar in the largest freshwater pool in The Bahamas. This is bragging rights earned — at the island voted Best Private Destination by Travel Weekly readers for three years running.

Bounce, climb and swing your way through the obstacles in Adventure Pool. Or if you're up for a true rush, take on the tallest slide in North America — Daredevils Peak®. Whatever your thrill threshold, you'll find firsts to test your bravery. Located four stories above the pool decks at the top of the ship, The Epic Plunge takes waterslide lovers on a 200-foot journey with or without an inner tube, before swirling you around.

The exact cost for Thrill Waterpark admission per person will vary from ship to ship and sailing to sailing. You will find chairs, umbrellas, and picnic tables around each of the water slide towers, as well as near both pools. These chairs and tables are complimentary and first-come, first-reserved. Perfect Day at CocoCay offers loads of options to fuel up in between adventures.

The latest cruise ships have a variety of activities that appeal to all age groups, but in this guide, we’re most interested in water parks & cruise ships with water slides. For a racing themed slide complete with special lighting effects as you zip through, look for the Speedway Splash. For a slide with a major swirl at the finish, check out the aptly named DrainPipe. To get absolutely soaked, stand under the PowerDrencher, which drops an enormous bucket of water on its victims. All together, the park looks like a giant, vibrantly-colored Rube Goldberg machine.

Royal Caribbean says Lost Dunes is mini-golf “on steroids.” The area is heavily themed with the “Thrill Island” idea, complete with wrecked ship, crashed planes and more. The standing wave simulator gives passengers the chance to boogie board or surf while on the ship. And while some of the cruise line’s largest ships have two of the rides, Icon of the Seas will only have one located at the back of the ship. On Norwegian Breakaway, the lineup includes twin free-fall slides that drop passengers nearly straight down several stories; two side-by-side twisting racer slides; and a family-friendly slide with a more modest drop. The complex includes two four-deck-high racer slides called Cyclone and Typhoon, where you can do side-by-side speed tests with your travel partner. This isn't just one giant waterslide; it's a whole complex of waterslides, each one among the most exciting you'll find anywhere on the world's oceans.
